okay, asshole. it’s not ‘just a retail job’. i have dreamed of working for the walt disney company since i could breathe, it means more than anything to me. being able to create magic for guests every single day, which in turn creates magic for myself, is the reason why i’m doing this. i wouldn’t be moving 1.2k miles away from home if i wasn’t passionate about this. everyone has to start from somewhere, and this is my foot in the door. don’t try and devalue that.
Back the fuck up, anon, and let me educate you real quick.
A ‘retail’ job? You think working merchandise at Disney is ‘just a retail job’?
Merchandise hosts are more than just sales people. We are Fairy Godmothers, and Pirate Captains, and Space Rangers. We are the ones who help you find the perfect souvenir to remember your vacation by. We are the ones who keep the stores looking pristine, who have innate knowledge of our product, and help you find what you are looking for with a friendly face. We are the ones you talk about your day with, the ones you share pieces of home with, the ones who engage you more than any attractions, food and beverage, character attendant, character, or PAC person will. We are the ones who get down on your children’s level and bring out a smile through the tired tears, the ones who go above and beyond to make it better when everything is crashing down. We are the ones who geek out about Disney with you, the ones who wave with Mickey gloves, the ones who wish you good morning, good afternoon, goodnight, and have a magical one. The ones who spread pixie dust and cheer with everything we do.
Retail jobs are the kind you find at outlet malls, or grocery stores. Making magic is something you will only find at Disney.
